Ty Croeso

welcome to Ty Croeso

Located in the Gabalfa ward of Cardiff, close to the University Hospital of Wales, Ty Croeso offers residential care and support for up to 4 children between the ages of 12 and 18 with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder and / or mental health needs, including those with other medical conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes. The house, which was set up in 2018, was fully renovated at that time and specifically designed with the needs of the individuals we support in mind. An extension was added in 2023 which increased capacity from 3 to 4 residents and saw improvements to the communal space. Situated close to all local amenities the area is served by major bus routes and rail networks giving easy access to the city centre and to the countryside or coast beyond. The A470 and M4 are easily accessible. There are a large variety of local shops, eating places, and leisure facilities within walking distance.

There are two bedrooms located at ground floor level, one of which is en suite. The other two are on the first floor along with a communal bathroom and the staff office / sleep-in room. We provide full residential care and support including the administration of medication, personal care, behavioural and emotional support. This includes support to access educational, social and leisure opportunities according to their individual needs, abilities and interests. We work closely with any educational establishments and other services they attend to ensure continuity of care.

We encourage the children and young people we support to play their part in the running of the home, teaching them appropriate skills according to their age and level of ability – cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc., skills that will help them in later life. We also facilitate access to a range of age appropriate educational, social and leisure opportunities.
