Person Centred Care

Regular ongoing contact with family and friends, where appropriate, is encouraged and we welcome visitors to the home and frequent phone calls.

We facilitate visits to enable individuals to meet up and socialise and encourage the development of appropriate relationships. We hold regular company-wide events where all our residents and staff come together to celebrate – summer barbeques, Christmas parties, sports days. This in addition to our regular “Monday Club” activities. We also all take part in charitable events such as McMillan Coffee Morning and Children in Need. Family members are invited to come along to these events. Holidays can be arranged for those individuals who would not be able to get away otherwise. These are carefully planned in line with their care plans and they are accompanied by suitably trained and experienced staff.

We seek to create a safe, welcoming, ‘home from home’ environment and provide the highest level of care and support for individuals at our homes.

Individuals are supported and encouraged to participate in a range of educational, social and recreational activities through person centred planning and active support.

We support them to make their own choices and plan their own budgets. This includes choice of decoration / furnishing of the home, menu planning, relevant in-house working procedures and planning of activities.

They are encouraged to help with household chores, including cleaning, laundry, cooking and gardening if they are able.

We promote community participation and social inclusion along with the taking up of educational opportunities, and individuals are encouraged to pursue their hobbies and interests inside and outside of the home.

The fundamental aim across the company is to meet the holistic needs of individuals in our care, ensure their well-being, and enable them to live their lives to their fullest potential.

Our philosophy centres around providing support for individuals to enable them to achieve. We do things as far as possible with them and not for them allowing for as much independence as possible and helping them achieve their own personal goals.

This gives residents a chance to get to know individuals and staff from other houses and develop friendships, and of course to enjoy themselves.

We work closely with multi disciplinary teams in Local Authorities and Health Boards, bringing in external help and expertise when needed to deal with any particular health, behavioural or communication needs that are identified.
The needs of those we support are at the centre of everything we do and every decision made.
